Geese in the pond!

This morning I looked out the window and saw a flock of Canadian geese landing in the pond. I love nature and photography! It was early enough that I was not dressed for the day but I could not miss that photo moment so I grabbed my camera, threw on my carhart coat on over my nightgown, and stepped into my gum boots as fast as I could.

                                                                   This is what I saw
Then they spied me behind the bush
There they go. I guess I don't blame them

Anniversary Dinner

The Husband and I have been married 10 years. I never ever thought he would cook a single meal in our married life but lately he has proved me wrong. Grilling is his thing and I'm glad cause its not my thing. He made Yucatan Pork for our anniversary. It is a Boston butt pork roast rubbed in some red chile stuff and then wrapped in a banana leaf and grilled.
                                                                      Wrapping it up!
                                                                 Ready for the grill
                                                               The chopped up meat
He made a salsa and pickled onions
It is served on a corn tortilla
                                                          It was really good!!!

Sled Riding

This is the first year our daughter has been able to sled ride. Our farm has 2 decent hills for it. One is behind the pond and the other is the approach to the barn. She had so much fun!

Out With the Old and In With the New

Last year was a long year. Actually it started in September of 2011. We decided to put our house up for sale and get out of our neighborhood that was starting to go downhill. The convicted rapist that moved in across the street didn't help any. We did some work to the house. The Husband built a beautiful deck off the back of the house and I put in a flagstone patio.

This was taken before he built the stairs
The Daugher on the new stairs

We put most of our things in storage and then listed the house on a Tuesday. By Friday it was sold! God had a plan! I guess He wanted us out of that neighborhood too!  We could not believe it! We were prepared for a year or more of having our house on the market. Then the buyer, who paid cash, wanted the house in 30 days. We had no idea where we were going to go. We had 3 dogs at the time. I had no choice but to take 2 of them to the shelter. We also had a pony that we put on craigslist for free because we were so short on time. Someone came to get him a few days before we moved out.  It all came together just in time and we handed the keys over to the new owner.

Some friends took us in until we could find a rental. We found a really nice rental and spent the next 10 months there.

We looked and looked for a house to buy. We even went into contract with a few of them and none of them worked out. One of them had mold in the ceiling.  We had made an offer on the last house on our list. Right away it was accepted.  The Husband had some resumes out and had been to some job interviews during this time. He was just looking to get out of where he was. The day after our offer was accepted he was offered a job........ in Ohio. We decided to take it!  I thought our realtor was going to kill us! So here we are in our new house. I am glad last year is over with and I am looking forward to our new life in this new year!
