Homemade instant oatmeal

I am and oatmeal kind of girl. When I worked at a warehouse I would go in early everyday at 5:30 to get my 50 cent bowl of oatmeal from the cafeteria before I clocked in for the day. I don't know why it was so good but it was! Recently in my house I banned breakfast cereal and potato chips. Neither are good for you and I'm not spending 4 dollars for a bag of something not good for me anyway! The instant oatmeal from the strore is loaded with sugar. So anyway now I am making instant oatmeal in bulk. Its pretty good for not having a bunch of sugar in it. I put raisins in mine. yum!

Toast 6 cups of old fashioned oats in the oven at 325 for about 15 minutes. You just want it a little toasted, not brown.
Pour 4 cups of those toasted oats in a food processor.
Now add 1/2 cup of brown sugar and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon to the mixture.
Mix that in the food processor until it looks like this. It should be a little powdery.
I poured this mixture in a bowl and then added the other 2 cups of toasted oats. Stir it up.

There you go, instant oatmeal without all the preservatives and sugar. Now add some dried strawberries, blueberries, or apple. I put raisins in mine.

To make a bowl of it put 1/2 cup of the oats in a bowl, add 1 cup of boiling water. Put a saucer on top of the bowl and let it steam away.
When you take the saucer off it will look like this. yummy!
